. . . sitting in the duff beneath a redwood tree listening
to the wrentits is heaven enough for me.
-- Derrick Jensen, A Language Older than Words (from afterword
to Not In His Image by John Lamb Lash)
That
is usually the first thing people say when they ask me to communicate
from a distance with their animal. The truth is I can connect
the same intuitively with or without using a photo. When working
without a picture, I create an image in my mind's eye based on
the animal's description and then connect mentally and emotionally
with that virtual image.
I just did this recently with a horse who lives in Vermont. The
owner told me the horse was named Jade, and gave me Jade's age
and description. Then she waited on the phone while I connected
intuitively with the mare. During an initial connection process,
I form a mental image of the animal as if the animal were right
there in front of me. I introduce myself, make sure it is ok to
talk, and then invite the animal, in virtual reality, to come
closer and interact with me. Based on what the animal does at
that point, I can pretty much assess the animal's core personality.
For example, Jade came right up to me and wanted to be in my pocket.
She told me mentally in words (that I heard as thoughts in my
head) that she loved to be close to people, really loved it, and
that she loved to smell people. Jade said she smelled people a
lot. The owner confirmed that Jade was the kind of horse that
would fawn all over you and that she loved to come up and just
smell you. For all you non-horse people out there, not all horses
are like that!
Seeing a photograph of an animal can sometimes unduly influence
an intuitive connection. For example, if the photo shows a happy
healthy animal, one might make the assumption that the animal
is doing fine when in reality the animal could be upset or ill.
So if I do use a photograph to connect I remind myself to steer
clear of making any assumptions from the photo.
When I teach people how to connect with animals at a distance
I like to get them used to working without pictures as quickly
as possible. It makes you much more flexible if you can work without
a photo and you don't have to get bogged down in the details of
getting a photo emailed or mailed to you. In workshops I have
found that students often discount the intuitive information they
pick up by saying that they could tell what the animal was like
from looking at the photo. When working without a photo, I observe
that people more readily accept the fact that they are really
communicating intuitively.

When Hurricane Ivan hit, my husband was at the door looking out
and noticed a dog outside who was seemed to want to come in. I
went out to see, and found a large, gaunt male wolf mix. He was
panting and exhausted and covered in cactus spines. I stood there
and talked to him for a few minutes and told him that I was not
going to hurt him, and that I would bring him some food and water.
I went in got food and water, and brought it out for him. He came
over and ate and drank a little. I could see cactus spines stuck
in his mouth, his feet, and huge spiny berries hanging off his
body and under belly. I kept talking to him and then asked him
if he would let me take the spines out. He just stood there, so
I went in and got a pair of leather gloves, some needle nosed
pliers, and a bucket to drop the cactus in. The dog let me remove
the large pieces on his body and some of the looser ones from
under his belly. I asked if he would sit so that I could take
some of the spines out of his paws, and he sat. I talked to him
the entire time and kept telling him how handsome he was, and
how brave, and that I wasn't going to hurt him. There were a few
times I would pull a cactus spine from between his toes and he
would flinch slightly, then get up and walk around the corner.
After a moment or two he would return and allow me to remove more.
It was almost as if he was too much of a gentleman to let me
hear him cuss because of the pain. I removed as much as I felt
I safely could, and then made a place for him in our garage to
ride out the storm. Since I already had my own four cats and two
dogs in the house, I felt it would be wiser to leave him in the
garage. During the height of the storm, he escaped, but apparently
spent the time underneath a neighbor's truck. The next day when
the storm had passed, he came back to the house for breakfast.
I took him to the vet who took out the remainder of the cacti
from the dog's mouth and gums. The dog tested positive for heartworm,
but needed to gain some weight before they could start treatment.
One of my co-workers at the time had just lost a dog, and I approached
him about taking the dog. They turned out to be a great match,
and now "Eli" has a permanent home, and successfully underwent
heartworm treatment. Although I am not so aware of my intuitive
ability, the animals keep on showing me that I have it!

Here's
a story about how intuition worked to lead me to the dog I was
supposed to have. I had been thinking I wanted a little dog and
I woke up each morning thinking about the little dog. Then a name
started coming to me that was the name I was going to call the
dog, Flower. Then one day I decided to go look for the dog. I
checked the paper and picked a local place that had Jack Russell
Terriers. I called the breeder and said I wanted a broken-coat
(long haired) Jack Russell. She said she only had one and it wasn't
for sale. I told her that was all I was interested in, but she
coaxed me into coming to look at the puppies anyway.
The puppies were cute but as I stood watching them something
made me turn and look about 40 feet away at a pick up truck. Then
up popped a little head. "Who's that? " I asked the woman. "That's
Flower." she said. I told her that I had to have that dog. The
woman said she knew this was going to happen as soon as I told
her what I wanted. Flower turned out to be an abused dog who needed
a safe home with lots of love. And now she and I belong to each
other.

This is Amelia's latest book and I highly recommend it to anyone
who has a passion for animal communication. Amelia explores the
physics of animal communication and, as usual, gives great insights
and tips.
Find out about a revolutionary way to manage your horses if you
have a little room to work with. The idea is to make a corridor
along the inside of the exterior fence of your paddock and exclude
the horses from the middle of the paddock, unless you want them
to be there. Then you spread their hay each day along the corridor
and put other features throughout to make the horses walk. They
end up walking all day long and getting super healthy and fit
just like horses do in the wild….That's the idea.
Don't get depressed - get active. Find out the truth about what
is happening and then go out and change it. What happens in our
world and our governments is a reflection of how many of us are
involved in the process.
If you haven't heard of it yet, now you have. A cult hit, this
CD teaches you how to manifest what you want for yourself and
the world. To order it go to thesecret.tv

If you haven't yet seen Al Gore's documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, please go see it as soon as possible and get everyone you know to do the same. You can rent it now in video stores. We all need to get active in pressuring the governments of the world to immediately implement radical changes in how we live. Later will be too late as is all too clear from the movie. This will require that everyone who loves life and loves this planet and everything on it, get involved now and refuse to take no for an answer. Together we can make the change that is needed happen.
